5 Relationship Tips

I can't believe that February is already here! Where did January go?! Not complaining, though! I love February because it's not only my birthday month but also Valentine's day, too! Happy love month! Valentine's day is just right around the corner so I thought that I would share 5 tips that have helped my marriage a be a happy one. Zach and I are coming up on our 5 year wedding anniversary in May and each year just gets better. Zach and I started dating when we were 18 years old. I always had a feeling that I would meet my husband and get married young. I loved starting my life early. I knew exactly what I wanted. He's a good one ;)

These 5 tips that I am about to share are ones that I feel have helped make our relationship a happy and loving one.

1. Communication

Communication is a big one. This keeps you both on the same page. If you aren't that's where confusion and frustration come in to play. Be honest and open with each other. This is key to a happy relationship!

2. Have Fun

Make sure to have fun with each other. That's why you are together, right!? Go on vacations, do spontaneous things, go on dates, make each other laugh.  Zach and I have had some of our best moment and memories while on vacation. We love to travel and I really feel that we need to do it more often.

3. Be Grateful

I think this is another big one. Be grateful for what your spouse does. Whether it's going to work every day, doing the dishes, or making dinner. It's important to be grateful for these things because it shows that you care that they did those things and that you recognize it. Who doesn't want to be recognized for something they did to help or did a good job at?

4. Support Each Other

You have to support each other and cheer each other on. You are that person's biggest fan. Why would you not be!? Whether it's with school, a career,  or overcoming something. If you support each other, that is what helps drive success and creates happiness. I KNOW that Zach is my biggest fan. He supports me, believes in me, and compliments me. It's so sweet and I love him so much for that. Happiness is the biggest thing in life for me. You only get one life, why be unhappy?

5. Be a Team

Zach and I are a team. We work together to make our life work. Now that we have a baby, things are a little harder and it definitely takes teamwork with her. One of us will get groceries while the other is taking care of Blakely (taking her to a store is not fun) or one of us will give her a bath while the other one is cleaning up dinner. Zach and I work really well together and I love that about our relationship.
